I recieved this for christmas. I grate a lot of parmesian with this nice little machine. To those who say it does not grate soft cheese well, It is not designed for that. The cutting teeth on the drum are just too small. I would agree that the handle could be a little better but it works just fine for my big hands. If you have dented the drum or broken the handle it is because you are pressing too hard on the feed handle. Cheeses like Parmesian need a firm pressure but not a vise grip. If the drum were heaver it probably would not work as well.
As long as you pay attention to the size of the cheese block and position it in the center of the hopper it works just fine. Yes you do get some larger chunks at the end, but in most cases the cheese will be melting so I find this to not be any kind of issue. If you don't want chunks, you can always buy one of those cheap plastic models that don't last and leave a fairly large piece of ungrated cheese in the hopper and a lot of cheese stuck in the handle end of the drum.
I guess by now you have guessed that I really like this little grater.

Cuisipro Rotary Cheese GraterThis 18/10 stainless-steel cheese grater manually grates small amounts of hard cheese, chocolate, nuts, or vegetables. To grate, place your food in the top of the hopper, press down on the holder, and turn the crank. The grater blade deposits your ground food out of the bottom of the hopper. The crank moves in either direction, making this cheese grater useful for both righties and lefties. For easy cleaning, the drum removes by flipping open the catch on the hopper and both pieces of the grater can go right in the dishwasher.
