Customer Review: A great whisk for nonstick pans

I was never too concerned about scratching my nonstick pans with a metal whisk because I figured whisks don't have sharp edges. Still, they do scrape the pan and since I needed another whisk anyway I thought I'd try a nonstick-friendly whisk.
This whisk was given the top spot in a test conducted by Cooks Illustrated (America's Test Kitchen). They said the whisk was firm enough to mix a roux but still maintained a nice bounce. I have to agree. At first I thought the whisk was flimsy - my other whisks are pretty stiff so this one seemed downright weak by comparison. My initial concern was unwarranted. What I was feeling was the bounce, which really did help whip up the pancake batter I was making. This whisk does a great job at all whisk-y tasks...mixing, aerating, stirring paint. Ok, maybe not the last one...
The balloon part of the whisk is covered with nylon sleeves which extend into the handle. Before I ordered this I was worried that food or liquid might get into the nylon sleeves but that's not the case. I always wash this in the dishwasher and it comes out great.
When it comes to whisks safe for nonstick pans you have a choice between all plastic and this type. I'm glad I got this whisk - it has the sturdiness of a metal whisk with the safety of a plastic whisk. Definitely recommended.
